Located within the Beardmore Dam Recreation Area just north of St George, the flying fox sits among a scenic lakeside setting of open parklands, picnic areas and views across the Balonne River system, with opportunities nearby for fishing, wildlife spotting. Particularly kangaroos making it a relaxed stop along the Cotton Self Drive Trail and a great addition to a day exploring this important irrigation dam within the Murray–Darling Basin.
