Listing Details:

On the banks of the mighty Barwon River, history now stands tall in Mungindi. A brand-new flood marker has been installed at Mungindi River Park – a striking reminder of the power of nature and the resilience of our community.

The marker records the seven highest flood levels since 1890, with the towering 1903 peak of 8.5 metres leading the list. Each mark tells its own tale – from the great floods of the early 1900s to more recent events in 2022 – capturing over a century of stories that have shaped life on the border.

Take a stroll down to the riverbank, stand beside the marker, and imagine the sheer force of those waters. It’s a piece of local history you can see and feel, connecting past generations with today.

This project was proudly delivered in September 2025 with support from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
